As wave of repression hits our comrades in France. A call of Solidarity to You goes out of Hambach Forest Struggle and a reminder to all of previously announced re-occupation of the Lujuc Wood scheduled March 3rd and 4th.  See you there!!

Bure, 22.02.18 This morning at 6:15am the eviction of the Lejuc wood (Bois Lejuc) started with 500 riot cops, reinforced/orchestrated by a communication campaign from the home secretary (ministre de l’interieur), the news channels diffusing shock images of military vehicles gathered next to the Lejuc wood, cabins being invaded, cops in balaclavas armed with chainsaws and cameras…

Frankfurt:Treburer Wald Occupation Blocking Expansion of 3rd Terminal

Plans to expand Frankfurt’s Airport’s  third terminal and clear 6ha of mixed forest for the motorway connection have been put on hold by a over a month  long now forest tree-sit occupation.  Treburer Wald (Trebur Forest) between  Zeppelinheim and Möhrfelden-Walldorf on the edge of Frankfurt is now a home to a group of activists living in 3 platforms and  a treehouse connected by walkways with multiple banners bringing attention to the climate, pollution and noise impact of the airport.

A supporters account of barricade evictions

Arrived at 8.00 in the forest. When I wanted to go to tripod (Jesuspoint) towards Gaul, 3 policemen (presumably SWAT Hambach) arrived. They made derogatory and offensive remarks to the activists. When I arrived in Gaul, I met several local citizens and supporters. In Gaul, there were about 14 police officers from the evidence preservation units, they took pictures and videos(those are later used to prepare treehouse evictions and other large scale actions).

Airport project in Notre-Dame-des-Landes called off!

Against the airport
and its world!

The French government has abandoned the construction of the disputed major airport near Nantes, which had been under discussion for 50 years. The Prime Minister said that if there was such a strong opposition in a region, that literally divided the local population in half, such a project could not be carried out without confrontation (taz).
In other words, farmers, militants and environmentalists have prevented the project. They transformed a “differed development zone” (ZAD = Zone d’Aménagement Différé) to a zone to defend (Zone à défendre) and the people who had settled on the 1600 ha site, call themselves Zadistes.

Our congratulations to all, who made this possible.
But!
The Prime Minister still said something else: “Anyone who is currently illegally occupying land in Notre-Dame-des-Landes must vacate it by spring at the latest.” It may be that the Zadistes will wait to see if this decision really will be implemented. If so, then it might be that more French will be spoken soon on the edge of the Hambach hole.
