SUNDAY 5.27 19:00 Solidarity Prison Demo for UPIII

Support UP III who is now after 68 days of detention without trial and conviction, after having support mail from outside not delivered for two month, after having visits subjected to strict approval process with many being denied, after going through all of this crap that is regularly faced exclusively by non-german speaking forest activists (strong overtones of legal and State xenophobia and nationalism) is now facing an “Age Test” declared by German Medical Association as having no medical merit and as being unethical. This Pseudo-Scientific “test” with inescapable overtones of sexual perversion constitutes forcing the prisoner to not only strip naked but to also have photos of their sexual development taken by a “medical professional” who then submits them as part of the court records.

Most of us arrested for protecting and defending millenarian Hambach Forest from RWE climate killing lignite have been subjected to being strip searched by having to take all of our clothes in front of at least 3 cops. This has become a time when not only inappropriate jokes, sexist comments and commentary has taken place but also during the Bonner Strasse Protests in city of Cologne when two prisoners were also physically assaulted at that vulnerable time.

As the reports of constant repression, violence and destruction in ZAD NDDL reach us in the Occupied Hambach Forest [blockaded against RWE’s Mega toxic lignite Coal Mine] many here also see and remember the constant stream of creativity, refuge, support, inspiration and solidarity that ZAD NDDL has provided and became for so many through out the years and continues to do so despite wave upon wave of State repression and violence that has been and continues to be thrown at it. Zad like countless other struggles, uprisings and revolution is the ultimate reminder of how much is possible with so little and how “so little” can signify so much.
That is why at this difficult time, also here in the Hambi (just reading the reports but also preparing for waves of deforestation and evictions this year beginning in October),a mega dose of Love, Solidarity and Constant Support is being sent to you from this ancient also endangered but also occupied, barricaded and defended for last seven years forest.

Before RWE began to destroy the forest, it was still called Bürgewald, a “Commons” Forest administered by local municipalities. The change of name to Hambacher Forst by RWE also served to hide the long history of the forest and its importance as one of the oldest forests in Germany.[In german the word Forst indicates a planted, exploited industrial forest as opposed to the word Wald which indicates self-planted wilder ecosystem] Here follows a rough outline of the history of the Hambi:

UP III has been imprisoned for two months now on circumstantial evidence, the defense not being access to their files to be able to organize defense and call witnesses. Despite first visits being applied for a day after prisoner’s arrest no visits were considered till after 7 weeks of detention. What makes this case particularly troubling is that unlike many German speaking prisoners from Hambi who were detained numerous times under similar charges and for equal time and who did not have mail being delayed or controlled and in some cases were able to receive a massive amount of support mail within days. UPIII, like Jus who was english speaking, like UP2(Spanish) and UP4(French) has had her mail completely blocked and in over two month has received only two letters.
