RWE Clears out lumber from last Fall 2 day cutting season

Today at the end of the secu road and along the old A4 RWE has been loading the cut trees that have been there since the end of last year’s stopped 2 day cutting season.  That stoppage has been one of the celebrated points of Hambi Forest occupation.  Since then the District Government of Arnsberg has declared that the forest will not be preserved and cutting of the last portion of the forest will continue from 2018 to 2020. (In Northrine-Westphalia this District Government is responsible for approving any mining activities. This authority is subordinate to the state government of RWE, so their position was to be expected. See also our article District Government Arnsberg approves deforestation from October on. This decision will certainly be appealed in court.)

RWE showing up to pick up couple hundred tons of wood is in effect preparation and clearing of the way for the next cutting season.  This action was not guarded by the cops but by only RWE private security.   It is also symbolic how the financial value put on ecosystems in the capitalist context results in destroying precious ecosystems like Hambi.  Lets not make this privatize life and nature as it vanishes in the name of profit too easy for them,

District Government Arnsberg approves deforestation from October on

Not surprising and yet deeply distressing? The district government of Arnsberg approves the main operating plan 2018-2020 and thus the further deforestation of the Hambach Forest from October 2018 on.

Here you can read the press release of the he district government in German: https://www.bezreg-arnsberg.nrw.de/presse/2018/03/063_18_03_29/index.php

What does this mean for us? It’s just another proof that jurisdiction has nothing to do with justice. That profit interests prevail over environmental and human rights. And that coal exit remains manual work.

The attempts to criminalise and isolate our protest are more obvious than ever: Never have so many active people been in prison for so little offence. At the same time, they try to describe things as if the violence came from our side, and we were to blame if the police felt compelled to evict the occupations and to destroy the forest because of danger ahead. It is more necessary than ever to counteract this. Let’s start preparing for the upcoming clearing season. It’s time to found local groups, to organise, or to take another semester off, to quit your job or drop out of school, and to plan a deforesting season in the Hambi.

Because for a climate of justice we have to fight ourselves.

SOLIDARITY TO HAMBI & THE RESISTANCE FROM PONT VALLEY OCCUPATION

Stormy Clouds Sunset over Pont Valley Protection Camp

Lots of warm solidarity and support from Pont Valley Protection Camp to all defending Hambacher Forest and full spectrum of their supporters following evictions of barricades this time by the police and imprisonment of now 2 additional Climate Justice Political Prisoners together with UP2(kept for past 2 month in isolation with “evidence” being kept from the defense) making now the #freeHambi3. The disaster martial law capitalism steps up its bullshit this time instead of after communists and labour activists going for environmental, climate and direct action activists first as Rheine Energy CEO/Police Chief, Herbert Reul and his fossil fools disaster capilast New Frei Corps of North Rhine Westphalia Interior ministry police sweeps up the opposition. As climate disaster deepens, ecosystems collapse accelerates, nuclear proliferation and militarization is an accepted by the masses fucked up reality while militant resistance is delegitimized, criminalized and appropriated for media green-scare campaigns. Firecrackers and pocket knives become dangerous weapons as politically cynical capitalist conspiracy of repression continues its campaign of divide and conquer by pushing community and civil initiatives to be further and further apart from radical part of the movement. Through fear and reformists empty promises of change forcing some to engage in follow ups of repressions with external retraumatizing critiques.
